HAPPY FATHER’S DAY

A Dad is a person
Who is loving and kind,
And often he knows
What you have on your mind.
He’s someone who listens,
Suggests, and defends.
A dad can be one
Of your very best friends!
He’s proud of your triumphs,
But when things go wrong,
A dad can be patient
And helpful and strong
In all that you do,
A dad’s love plays a part.
There’s always a place for him
Deep in your heart.
And each year that passes,
You’re even more glad,
More grateful and proud
Just to call him your dad!
Thank you, DAD…
For listening and caring,
For giving and sharing,
But, especially, for just being you!
Happy Father’s Day

PUZZLE OF THE MONTH

This child has a Father who lives at Chardonnay.
Who is he?

FROM THE BOARD

Spring is always a flowering season …. And Chardonnay has surely caught SPRING FEVER!!! The planted flower beds in front of the Clubhouse looked spectacular this year, Thanks to last year’s landscaping committee who planted the spring bulbs. Also, the trees that line the driveway as you come up Chardonnay Drive appear to have weathered last year’s drought very well. Everyone should stop to consider how blessed we are to have such willing and giving volunteers on the landscape committee!!! Be sure to thank them for the beautiful job and maybe consider offering your help on the committee this year.

On May 27th, the pool will be opening again! Be sure to make plans to come and participate in all the activities that will be going on at the clubhouse. And, Please, to all new residents, don’t be shy….come and meet some of the fun and interesting people that live at Chardonnay. We have a spectacular Social Committee and Welcome Committee that will do everything to make you feel comfortable and welcome among your new community. Hope to see you and all the community residents!

Dear Mr. Chardy:

A couple of months ago, you stated that furniture or appliances should
not be discarded in the dumpster. Instead you should call Rumpke for a special pick up. Can you tell us what telephone number to call for this pickup?

I look forward to meeting with you next month. In the meantime, if you have a question you would like answered, please call 441-8287 or email amullins1@insightbb.com.

DERBY PARTY

Thirty residents attended the Derby Party at the clubhouse on May 6th. Everyone had a lot of fun chatting, eating and rooting for their horse. The winners were:

FIRST PLACE: Jane Gray, Dave Trowbridge, Bill Frambes, Jim Remley, & Judy Kraft.

SECOND PLACE: Dolores VonHandorf, Barb Culp, Bob Wheeler, Ned Barnes, & Judy Kraft.

THIRD PLACE: Trulin Mullins, Rhoda Wheeler, Barb Culp, Dolores VonHandorf, & Bob Wheeler.

After the race, there was a split-the-pot which was won by Helen Lehkamp. A Brinks truck was called to help her transport her earnings home.

THANKS

Jeanie and I appreciate the thoughtfulness of our Chardonnay neighbors and friends in regards to the death of my brother, Al. We realize even more what a nice community we have here and the sympathies expressed to us by so many have helped us in this time of sorrow.

Jim & Jeanie Remley

If you are going to be ill, Chardonnay is the place to be. Thank you does not seem adequate to cover how gratified we are for the support of the many wonderful friends that we have at Chardonnay. Each day brought offers of rides to the hospital, grocery and even to get my hair done each week. Soup, fruit salads and many delicious and appreciated foods were dropped off. Prayers and shoulders were offered daily along with many Get Well Cards. We can’t thank you enough. You are special to us.

Joe & Pat Malloy

Answer: The phone number is 1-877-786-7537. You must give Rumpke a 24-hour notice and tell them what you have to discard. Then place the item at the dumpster area the night before the pickup.
Also while we are discussing trash pickups, I have another item to mention. Do NOT leave garbage in your garage. This causes offensive odors and causes bugs which we do not want in our community.

Now that flower-planting season is upon us, what are the rules for planting flowers?
Answer: The planting of annuals, small perennials and bulbs in the mulch and patio areas (18 inches from patio) is encouraged. Trees, bushes, vegetables, vine, etc. are not allowed. For more details, consult your Welcome Book Page 27 and the Flower Planting Permit.

There have been numerous complaints on neighborhood pets. Can you outline some of the basic rules?
1. Always keep pet on a leash when outside.
2. Immediately pick up after your pet.
3. NEVER take your pet to someone else’ lawn to do “its business” even if you do pick it up.
4. Barking dogs may be a nuisance to other homeowners. Please take proper precautions to avoid this problem.
5. The right of homeowners to maintain a pet within the home shall be subject to termination if the Board of Directors determines the maintenance of the animal constitutes a detrimental effect on the community or other homeowners.
Failure to obey all of the above could cost you a fine and possibly the privilege of owning a pet.

Are there any traffic rules for the community?
Answer: Yes. Stop signs mean what they say. Drivers MUST always stop when they approach these signs. Failure to do so could also result in a fine.

SOCIAL COMMITTEE

May has been a great month starting with our Derby Party and ending with our Pool Opening. I think everyone had a good time – we also saw a few new faces. On Friday, June 23rd at 7 PM, we are having our ice cream social, and Everyone loves ice cream! Our guest speaker for the night will be Tricia Macke, the Fox 19 News anchor. I owe a big thank you to Pat Bibbins (Tricia’s Aunt) for helping me put this together. Come, enjoy the evening and make Tricia feel welcome.

Some upcoming events will be a wine tasting in July and we are planning an auction for August. During the next few months as you are doing your Spring and Summer cleaning, if you should come across some items you have never used and it is just taking up space, please think about donating them to your Social Club’s Auction. The items need to be new or slightly used, large or small, and even some smaller furniture items. This would be a good chance to donate those Christmas Gifts you keep storing and never use. The proceeds will go the The Social Club, which will be used throughout the year to buy food, supplies and decorations to put on our monthly events. Any items not sold will be returned to you. If you have a donation, please contact Pat Rummel at 441-1088 and we will be happy to make arrangements to pick up the items.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the ice cream social.
