FROM THE BOARD

When I was told that it was my turn to put an article in the Grapevine, I had two thoughts in mind. The most important of the two is our election of officers for the Chardonnay Board. Since the board has the control of how our condo fee is spent, it is to our advantage to elect the best qualified person for the job. The present board has taken us from an unknown to a well-established condo community that is financially sound. The election will be held at the Newport Elks at 7:30 PM on Tuesday, February the 7th. The Chain Gang has promised some snacks and soft drinks. Rumors have it that one of the door prizes will be one-month free condo fee.

My second thought is about the appearance of our community. The road from the clubhouse to Pooles Creek Road is still a collecting place for garbage such as beer cans, soft drink bottles, cigarette packs and many pieces of paper. While we were under construction, it was blamed on the workmen. It is almost two years since the work crew has left, but the garbage still comes. That means that some of our residents don’t know where to deposit their refuse. We have four large dumpsters that are looking for your garbage. Won’t you please use them?

Chuck Gerhardstein, Treasurer

ILLNESS

Our community has had its share of sickness during the past few months. We want you to know that we love you and are praying for you. We hope you have a speedy recovery. We look forward to seeing you at our future activities.

ANNUAL OWNERS’ MEETING

Listed below is some data related to the Annual Owners’ Meeting to be held on February 7, 2006 at the Cold Spring Elks’ Club.

1) This meeting is for the Owners only of Chardonnay. It gives the owners a glimpse of what has happened in 2005 and what to expect in 2006.

2) There will be an election of three board members. Candidates are: Bill Frambes, Alan Hahn, Marge Rauch and Rhoda Wheeler. The three elected members will give two years of their time and energy to the operation of Chardonnay.

3) For our election to be effective, 50 owners MUST attend the meeting. If you are unable to attend, please sign a PROXY and give to a neighbor or friend to bring to the meeting for you. If you sign a proxy, you will be counted in the 50 necessary owners needed to attend. If you sign an ABSENTEE BALLOT, you will not be included in the attendance group. Therefore, it is more important to your community to sign a PROXY. If you need someone to pick up your proxy, please call one of the current board members. (Phone numbers are listed on the last page of this newsletter.

4) There will be light refreshments at the meeting supplied by the Association’s Lady Auxiliary (Chain Gang).

5) Door prizes will be given out, however, you MUST attend in person to be eligible for these. THE BEST PRIZE WILL BE A MONTH’S FREE CONDO FEES.

ALL OWNERS, please try to attend. Get to know and support your community.

The following is an article written by Ralph Marston of the Daily Motivator. Perhaps we at Chardonnay could benefit from it in 2006.

THE PLACE WHERE YOU ARE

The place where life happens is the place where you are. The place where you build success and achievement is the place where you are.

You cannot change the places where you came from, and you’ve not yet arrived at the places you’ll be. The place where you are is the only place where you can think and act and make life happen in the way you intend.

WELCOME HOME PARTY

On Friday, January 20, fifty-two residents attended the Welcome Home Gala for Building #11. The families being honored were: Annette Arlinghaus, Marty Baxter, Donovan & Kristen Davis, Carlis & Loretta Hall, Judy Kraft, Jerry & Helen Lehkamp, Joe & Pat Malloy, Jonathan McSorley, Julianne Meadows, Tim O’Hearn, Randy & Bonnie Spangler, and Dave & Nancy

Trowbridge. These families were ousted from their condo last May when their building was struck by lightning. They are all officially back home now.

At the party, the contractor who was responsible for getting the condos ready for occupancy gave a talk and introduced five of his workers who were in attendance. Bill Frambes, President of Chardonnay’s Board of Directors, gave a toast.

Everyone enjoyed cake and champagne and each of the honored families left with a set of kitchen towels as a small token of love from their Chardonnay neighbors.

SYMPATHY

We would like to extend our sympathy to Marty Baxter in the loss of her husband, Don and to Patrick Grosser in the loss of his Father. Our prayers are with you.

ENTERTAINMENT

Pam Day, daughter of Bill & Kathy Frambes, will be performing in “GI Jukebox” at the Mariemont Players on Saturday, May 20th at 4:00 PM. Price is $14.00 or less if group rate. For reservations, call 781-8852 no later than February 28th.
