FROM THE BOARD SERVING ON THE BOARD-AN OPPORTUNITY FOR YOU It's not too early to begin thinking about the Chardonnay Association Annual Meeting, which will be held on January 15, 2008 at the Elks Club. That's only a few months away. We have three of our Board of Director's positions open. Elections for those positions will take place at the annual meeting. Additionally, for personal reasons, Paul Ford is resigning from his position on the Board effective at the end of this year and the Board will be looking for a candidate to fill his remaining one year term. The Board members are asking each of the owners to consider giving back to our community some of your time and talent by being a candidate for these Board positions. Serving on the Board doesn't require that much time, usually just a few hours a month plus bi-monthly Board meetings. The Board will be using a nominating committee to contact candidates in the near future. Chardonnay owners, this is your opportunity to contribute toward your investment. Being on the Board is a very satisfying experience. And it is an honor and a privilege to serve. For the Board, Paul Ford |

SPECIAL THANKS A special thank you goes out to some of our community businesses for
their kind donations to be awarded as door prizes at our pool closing
festivities. We urge our residents to support these establishments and
thank them for their contributions. Barbara Culp wishes to thank all who expressed their concern with their cards and prayers during her recent illness. Barb is now on the road to recovery. Thanks again for your concerns.
The Welcome Committee will need someone to chair its Committee starting
in January. If you are willing to serve, please contact the Board SCRAPBOOKING AT CHARDONNAY For those who are interested in scrapbooking with others, Chardonnay residents can take advantage of use of the clubhouse on the first Monday of each month. Beginning October 1, 2007 at 7:00 pm, the clubhouse will be open for that purpose. Future dates are November 5, 2007, and December 5, 2007. So mark your calendar and come enjoy the fun! Each month there will be a special project for those who are interested. If you just want to work on your albums or make those cards for the upcoming holidays, this will be a chance to share your expertise with your neighbors. Scissors, pens, and cutters will be available for your use. So don’t bring them with you. Just bring your pictures, your book and yourself. If you have questions, call Judi Hahn @ 781-6329. WELCOME BOOKS PHONE BOOKS The community phone books are being finalized and should go to the printer shortly. Thanks to Judi Hahn and Pat Rummel for all their help in getting the books published. WATERING The neighborhood is still in need of watering due to the drought we have had this year. Many thanks go out to all of the owners who have taken their time to water the trees, shrubs and grass areas and fill the water bags this season. NAPA VALLEY STREET SIGN The Napa Valley Street Sign at the top of the hill will be changed shortly to show that the street goes left and right of the stop sign avoiding confusion to emergency/delivery personnel. IT’S STILL HAPPENING We are still having our Wednesday night “Happening”. If you haven’t attended these lately you are missing some good eats and fellowship. Just bring something for the grill and a covered dish and enjoy yourself. ANNUAL MEETING Keep the date of January 15, open for our Annual Owners Meeting to be held at the Elks Club at 7:30 pm. We will need to vote for (3) three members to serve on the board. If you are interested in running for the board or in nominating someone else to serve, please contact a member of the board. LANDSCAPING COMMITTEE The landscaping around the clubhouse has been approved by the board and will start sometime during the month of October. BOARD RESIGNATION Paul Ford will be resigning his position on the board effective the end
of December. The board will be making a decision on filling his spot.

FROM YOUR SOCIAL COMMITTEE In August we had our first Art Show featuring our very own artists from Chardonnay Art Club. Ken Allen, Marian Erwin, Julie Klaine, Dewain Bowling, Vera Welling and Pat Rummel. There was a huge amount of art on display and we had a nice crowd of neighbors, friends and relatives come join us. The Art Club would like to welcome any of our residents that would be interested in starting a beginner’s class by calling Marian Erwin at 781-9765, or just drop in every Wednesday up at the clubhouse at 1pm. The pool closing – What a great day! Brunch was delicious as usual. For the cakewalk we had about 22 or more varieties of cakes, cookies, pies and brownies that were all donated by our residents. Bob Gray won so many cakes on the number 13, he could have opened up a cake shop! He donated one of the cakes back to be re-won and one cake, which was exceptionally decorated with a pool scene donated by Nancy Trowbridge, to go as a door prize – it was almost too pretty to eat!
Our game winners were Bob Wheeler – 1st place and a 3-way tie going to Barb Culp, Rhoda Wheeler and Mary Ann Meadows. Our beauty contest had to be cancelled due to the unfortunate illness of Ned Barnes, Chuck Gerhardstein and Ken Mueller. Our wishes for a speedy recovery. I know your hearts were really into this contest. Did you know that Ken Allen was a physic? He amazed everyone when he proved his abilities to read minds! He was so good he’s thinking about |
taking his special powers and starting his
own show on HBO. A special thanks to you Ken for giving us some exciting
entertainment. Bob Wheeler and Bob Gray started up the grill and we ate Dinner at 5PM. We sure have a lot of good cooks at Chardonnay. I think that’s why our brunches and dinners always bring in a good crowd! My special thanks go out to my committee and everyone who always volunteer their help, donations and attendance. The next event will be our MONTE CARLO on October 19th. A Friday night at 7PM. We will have poker, black jack, Texas hold’em and dice tables. Ten Dollars will buy $100.00 in play money, Five dollars will buy $50.00 in play money. We will have a split the pot and refreshments. So come join us even if you’ve never played before, you’ll have fun! November 16th we’ll have our Thanksgiving Dinner. The Social Committee will provide the turkeys, dressing and gravy and the rest will be bring a dish to share. December 14th is set for the Christmas gift exchange. More information will be posted on your doors about these events. So keep an eye open and we would really like to see more people attending. It’s a great way to meet your neighbors at Chardonnay. Thank you for your support, Pat Rummel |
